At Home for Arbor Day 2020

04/16/20

Arbor Day promotes cleaner air and water, protecting wildlife in their natural habitats, and improving human health — all through planting and nurturing trees. National Arbor Day will be celebrated on April 24, 2020 and this year’s Arbor Day will be quite different than celebrations in the past. Due to Covid-19, local Arbor Day will be postponed and our celebration of trees will move from community events to at-home activities. The photo above is a tree we got free as a sapling from a Springfield Township event in 2016, pictured below. That's 9-year-old Felix in the neon sweatshirt hanging on every word...

Felix and Chris planted it in our front yard and we love watching it grow taller and bloom every spring.

We will be planting a new tree this year with hopes that next Arbor Day we will have emerged as a better version of our world.

A great little history of Arbor Day in America is available from the Arbor Day Foundation along with some downloadable coloring pages and activities for the kids!
